Overview:
Pondicherry was the largest French colony in India, also known as The French Riviera of the East. Whereas Mahabalipuram dates back to the Tamil Pallava dynasty in the 7th-9th century. The structures here mostly carved straight out of granite, are among the oldest existing examples of Dravidian architecture.
Day 1 Arrive at Chennai Airport – Mahabalipuram (1 Night)
Welcome to Chennai and proceed to Mahabalipuram famous for its temples and beach. Day is at leisure; you can spend time exploring Mahabalipuram beach on your own. Overnight stay at Mahabalipuram.
Day 2 Mahabalipuram Sightseeing – Pondicherry (2 Nights)
After breakfast, proceed for Mahabalipuram Sightseeing. Visit the the shore Temple, Panch Rath, Varah Caves, Arjuna’s Penance and Krishna’s Butter Ball. Later proceed to Pondicherry. In evening stroll around the Promenade Beachfront. Overnight at Pondicherry.
Day 3 Pondicherry Sightseeing
This morning after breakfast begin your day by visiting the Aurobindo Ashram, Ashram’s handmade paper factory, Varadaraja Perumal Temple, Manakula Vinayagar Koil, Pondicherry Museum, the Botanical Gardens and the Sacred Heart of Jesus Church. Afternoon visit to Auroville commune (15 kms North of Pondicherry). Matrimandir at the commune is a renowned architectural masterpiece. Evening is at leisure. Overnight in Pondicherry.
Day 4 Pondicherry – Chennai – Hometown
